Let your swing and drive define which golf clubs to buyOver a the past number of years the game has been played with basically the same set of clubs. This included 3 kinds of woods the 1 (driver) and 2 different fairway woods, 3 and a 5 wood, 11 irons (2-9, PW, SW) and a putter. Instead of selecting clubs based on tradition, select clubs based on what how you play the game of golf. Playing golf requires many kinds of shots and not everyone uses the same club. Each situation requires a different club. Based on your abilities, some shots will be relatively easy and some will be very difficult. Not every one should use a driver off the tee, for control you will see that a 3 wood gives you better distance. So why not invest in a high quality 3 wood like a Callaway or ping golf club. If the shot requires a 150 yard carry over water to the flag stick on a small green, the right club for each player will be different. You will notice even with big hitters that can drive a 360 yard fairway make the green in one long drive and a short iron, leaving them a 2 put for par. Most people can make the green in 2 if they don't try to hit a driver off the tee for distance and then end up loosing control. Go for a little less distance and a little longer 2nd shot by buying a higher quality 2 or 3 wood. By far the most frequent shot is a putt. For an average golfer, the putter is used more than twice as much as any other club. If a golfer shoots a score of 100, 35%- 40% of those strokes will be putts. So based on shear numbers, the putter is the most important club and should be the best your can buy.
So what do you buy for your next set of golf clubs. That will depend on what clubs you are most comfortable with. it would be far better to buy a cheap set of golf clubs at a bargain price and then swap out the clubs you use the most and upgrade these individual golf clubs with high quality brands that you really would like. If your heart was set on buying a set of pings or callaway golf clubs you can now afford to buy them one at a time to complete your set. |
